I have worked as a caring, empathetic addictions therapist with over 23 years of experience in the field. It has been my pleasure to provide ongoing support through self-esteem and empowerment building. Through a psychoeducational approach you will learn how your addiction affects your quality of life. You will also learn how cross-addiction and comorbidities can negatively impact your success in maintaining recovery. We will address key factors such as case management and mental health needs through a personalized recovery plan.
I feel that recovery looks differently for everyone, therefore, providing an individualized treatment plan enables individuals to identify obtainable goals that are specific to their personal needs.
Starting the journey into recovery can seem like an overwhelming task, that is why providing education and skills can help you see that your life can be so much more.
My approaches are person-centered with empowerment that will provide that validation and support you need to reach your potential. These approaches have helped individuals to overcome their personal life challenges. Helping you learn how DBT skills (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), RET (Rational Emotive Therapy) can assist you in creating a healthier lifestyle, through learning how to self-regulate your thoughts and emotions in order to support changing maladaptive behavioral patterns.
Early on in treating and supporting those in recovery I quickly learned that their family and friends needed knowledge and support on addiction as well. Through providing education and resources on how to set healthy boundaries without shame or guilt, I can assist you in being that strong support for your loved one who is struggling with addiction.
My goal is to educate those that are struggling with addiction and those that are trying to support loved ones who have an addiction. Many times treatment and therapy for those in recovery outlines what the recovering individual needs, not always discussing what family and friends might be experiencing. Therefore, whether you are someone starting your journey into recovery or someone trying to support someone who is struggling with active addiction, I am here to help.
The first step is a hard one to take, let's take it together.
